Your Opportunity

As a Civil or Environmental Engineering Intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to infrastructure projects which may include water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, conveyance, and hydraulic models. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken civil engineering design, process engineering or construction management type courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support several exciting local projects. This internship position is for Summer 2026 in our Hartford, CT office.

Your Key Responsibilities

Assisting Engineers and Designers in preparation of calculations, reports, drawings and specifications as well as other documents for bid and construction with exposure to drinking water, wastewater, waste to energy, water recycling, Sewer Utilities, Stormwater Infrastructure Utilities, and Public Green Stormwater Infrastructure Utilities.
  • Preparing and editing drawings on AutoCAD software.
  • Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required.
  • Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and programs are a plus.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.


Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil or environmental engineering. Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following:
  • Planning
  • Design
  • Construction
  • Water/Wastewater Infrastructure
  • Construction management


Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 41,100.00 - Max Salary $ 55,500.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
