We are seeking an experienced Locums Pediatric Hospitalist Physician to provide inpatient coverage at a well-respected hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This opportunity offers a balanced schedule and the chance to care for newborns and pediatric patients in a collaborative, community-focused setting.
Position Details:
Setting:Inpatient / Hospital-based – Pediatric and Newborn Care
Schedule:
Weekdays:In-house 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, then out-of-house coverage with a 30-minute response time from 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Weekends & Holidays:Provider may leave the hospital after completing patient care, maintaining out-of-house responsibility with a 30-minute response time
Patient Census:Average 5–10 patients per 24-hour shift
Admissions/Deliveries:Approximately one delivery or admission per 4 PM – 8 AM shift
Scope of Practice:
Manage routine newborn and pediatric inpatients
Perform procedures including:
Lumbar punctures (LP)
Emergency neonatal intubations
Emergency umbilical catheter placements
Bladder catheterizations
Attend deliveries as needed and provide immediate neonatal care
Collaborate with nursing staff, obstetricians, and neonatologists to ensure quality outcomes
Requirements:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
Active New Hampshire medical license (or ability to obtain)
BLS and PALS certifications required
Experience with routine newborn and pediatric hospitalist duties preferred
