Title: Surgical Technologist (OR Tech)
Department: Surgical Services / Operating Room
Type: Travel Contract (Providence Health & Services MSP)
Schedule:

• Day Shift | 3x12s

• Typical start times vary: 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 11:00 AM

• May need to cover one night shift during the contract

• Weekends required: 3 per schedule

• On-call required:

  • One weeknight per week

  • Every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday (0700 0700)

  • 20-minute response time
    Start Date: 01/26/2026

Job Description Summary

We are seeking for a highly experienced Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) for a 13-week travel assignment supporting a high-acuity Community Hospital and Trauma OR . Candidates must have strong Trauma Level I experience , broad specialty exposure (Ortho, Neuro, Vascular), and the ability to function independently in complex cases. Minimum 3 years of OR experience is required (5+ years preferred). Travel experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist in a wide range of surgical procedures across multiple specialties

• Maintain strict aseptic technique and adhere to Universal Protocol and time-out procedures

• Prepare case carts, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies

• Anticipate surgeon needs and support efficient case flow

• Assist in Trauma Level I cases including MVAs, gunshot/stab wounds, and amputations

• Support emergency and on-call cases as scheduled

• Ensure compliance with radiation, laser, sharps, and fire safety standards

• Assist with robotic-assisted cases (Da Vinci Xi) as needed

• Participate in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and open surgical procedures

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff in a fast-paced OR environment

Key Requirements

• Minimum 3 years OR Surgical Tech experience (hard stop)

  • 5+ years strongly preferred

• Trauma Level I experience REQUIRED

• Prior travel experience REQUIRED

• Community hospital OR experience preferred

• Comfortable with variable start times and occasional night coverage

• Willing to take weekend shifts and on-call assignments

• No block schedules

• No local candidates

• Pending licenses not accepted

Qualifications Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Experience

• Minimum 3 years experience as an OR Surgical Technologist

• Experience across Orthopedic, Neuro, and Vascular cases required

• Trauma and high-acuity OR experience required

License

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• CST preferred (NBSTSA certification preferred but not required)

• Trauma OR cases, MVAs, gunshot/stab wounds, amputations

Orthopedic

• Arthroscopy, total hip and knee replacement

• Spinal fusion, laminectomy/discectomy

Neuro

• Craniotomy, cervical and lumbar fusions, ALIF, XLIF

Vascular

• AAA repair, EVAR, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass

General & Specialty Surgery

• General surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, Whipple)

• Gynecology (hysterectomy, D&C, C-sections)

• Plastics, ENT, Urology, Bariatrics, Thoracic

• Endoscopic procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy)

Technology & Equipment

• Da Vinci Xi robotic system

• Cell saver, crash cart, fiber optic equipment

Professional Knowledge

• Aseptic technique

• Sterilization and disinfection

• Universal protocol and time-out

• Radiation, laser, sharps, and fire safety
