This role focuses on policy analysis, legislative tracking, advocacy coordination, and strategic communications. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently, and experienced in fast-paced, policy-driven environments.

This position manages a function rather than people and works closely with senior leadership to provide insights, materials, and recommendations related to government affairs activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of state-level advocacy strategies
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to align messaging and policy positions
  • Maintain legislative tracking tools and documentation on emerging trends
  • Support grassroots initiatives, meetings, fly-ins, and educational events (virtual and in-person)
  • Provide legislative and regulatory updates to internal audiences as a subject matter resource
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and time-sensitive policy needs
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives aligned with organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • 3–4+ years of relevant experience in government affairs, policy analysis, advocacy, communications, or regulatory work
  • Prior experience within an association, trade group, or policy-focused organization strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of state legislative processes and government operations
  • Proven ability to research, analyze, and explain complex policy issues clearly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, English, Public Policy, or a related field preferred
  • Familiarity with payments or financial services is a plus, but not required

Additional Details:

  • Indefinite temporary role with the possibility of conversion for the right candidate
  • Start date targeted for early January
  • Overtime eligible, as needed
  • Team size: small, collaborative government affairs group
  • Works closely with a remote VP and an on-site executive leader

Perks:

  • Opportunity to work on impactful policy and advocacy initiatives
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Exposure to senior leadership and high-level government affairs work
  • Addison Group support throughout the assignment
